NORTH AMERICAN PAIRS, FLIGHT A, B & C
Each club can hold two NAP (North American Pairs) games per sanctioned session during each of the months of June, July and August. These games award 100% sectional rated half red/half black masterpoints.
The NAP event has been a major ACBL pair championship since 1979 and was originally known as the Grand National Pairs. This grassroots event is staged in qualifying rounds at the club, unit and district levels. The contest is run as a flighted event: Flight A (Open), Flight B (fewer than 2500 masterpoints) and Flight C (Non-Life Master with fewer than 500 masterpoints).
The North American Pairs (NAP) is a set of annual U.S. national championships for pairs at contract bridge. At the final stage, three fields or "Flights" compete on the same schedule over two days at the American Contract Bridge League (ACBL) North American Bridge Championships (NABC). Each competition is a four-session matchpoint pairs tournament with two qualifying sessions on the first day, two final sessions on the second. These grass-root events are restricted to pairs that have qualified in local and regional stages, semifinally in their ACBL Districts.
Flight A is open to all players.
Flight B is restricted to players with 0 to 2500 masterpoints. Flight C is restricted to players who have not yet become Life Masters and have fewer than 500 masterpoints.
STaCs ARE COMING August
Sectional Tournaments at Clubs (STaC) are ACBL tournaments with sectional rating staged at many clubs in a geographical area over a period of up to seven days. Events are played at several clubs, and results are transmitted to a central office manned by the director in charge. Results are combined to determine the winners and overall places for participants. Masterpoints awarded are silver.
